I consider myself a painter of landscapes, still lifes, and figures in the American Impressionist and plein air tradition.
I am constantly inspired by the world around me and usually have a sketchbook nearby. Even beginning to express what is in my heart when I see and feel has given me countless amazing experiences.

I am interested in exploring color and light, and work mostly with a palette knife. I particularly enjoy painting sunsets. The way the sky lights up and the color reflects in the land is wonderfully beautiful and transient. To be standing right there, immersed in it, painting as the light changes, creates a brilliant

vibrancy in each painting. I'll usually take a few small boards with me, start with one, and then start painting on another as the light changes, until I can't see anymore, ending up with a progression of the sunset.

I've studied under talented impressionists John Ebersberger and Abigail McBride, as well as Cedric and Joanette Egeli, nationally known portrait painters. I graduated with a BA in Art and Graphic Design from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. Currently I live and work in the Annapolis, MD area. I also spent some time each summer in Provincetown, MA.
